Acquired from an altitude of 705km this Landsat 5 TM false colour image over the northern coast of Gotland, Sweden has been enhanced using the short-wave infrared, near infrared and red wavelengths displayed as red, green and blue.

The image covers an area 185km x 160km and shows a phytoplankton bloom that has turned the normal blue sea in to a swirl of marvel. This naturally occurring phenomenon provides a image in the style of Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”.
